Since the launch, the question has regularly arisen whether large hand-made surfaces – format table top – would also be included in the range. We have, of course, investigated those options where both production and transport of the surfaces require the necessary attention.
With a number of our own wishes in terms of colors and structure for the new surfaces, we started to make a number of test surfaces and backgrounds. Besides the quality, color and structure, the way in which the substrate can be reproduced is important. Our handcrafted surfaces never remain exactly the same. However, reproducibility is an important point, so time and attention is paid to this in the preparation for a new substrate.
Once the colors and structure were determined, a choice was made for the basic material, the sheet metal on which we work. And not to forget: the size of the new handmade backdrops! We decided to go big … 120x120cm! That is a seriously beautiful size surface for both food photography and product photography. The photo below – taken during the production process of one of our new surfaces – clearly shows how large the format really is!

After the production of the first copy of the new substrate in the full format, it is just as exciting when we are going to take the test food photos for, among other things, the content of the webshop. During this test session we photograph a setting from above as well as from a bird’s eye view.
